Candidates for Dakha bypolls get election symbols
Ludhiana: The candidates contesting Dakha assembly by-election were allotted election symbols by the district election office, Ludhiana, on Thursday.
The returning officer Amrinder Singh Malhi said Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) candidate Amandeep Singh Mohie has been allotted broom, Congress party’s Capt Sandeep Singh Sandhu has been allotted hand, and Shiromani Akali Dal’s (SAD) Manpreet Singh Ayali got scales. Apna Punjab Party’s Simrandeep Singh got batsman, Lok Insaaf Party’s Sukhdev Singh Chak got letter box, Nationalist Justice Party’s Gurjeet Singh got farmer driving tractor, Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) candidate Joginder Singh Vegal got truck, independent candidate Harbans Singh Jalal got football, independent candidate Gurdeep Singh Kahlon got television, Independent candidate Jai Parkash Jain (Titu Bania) has been allotted gas cylinder and independent candidate Baldev Singh (Dev Sarabha) got sewing machine as election symbol.
The voting for the bypolls would take place on October 21, and counting would be done on October 24.
Prasanna Ramaswami, the general observer for Dakha bypolls, held a meeting with the contesting candidates and their representatives at Bachat Bhawan in District Administrative Complex, on Thursday, wherein all were assured that the by-election would be conducted in a free and fair manner. Returning officer Amrinder Singh Malhi also assured the candidates and their representatives that if they come to know about any election-related violation, they should bring it to his notice.
