LUDHIANA: "Dono jahaan teri mohabbat mein haar ke, Woh jaa raha hai koi shab-e-gham guzaar ke." These are the verses of Urdu poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz, whose birth centenary would be celebrated by Ludhiana Sanskritik Samagam on July 30. It would be a tribute to the legendry poet by the organization, where ghazals and nazms of Faiz would be sung by renowned ghazal singer Jaswinder Singh.
LSS general secretary S K Rai said Faiz's fans celebrate his birth centenary all over the world, including UK, USA, Canada and Germany, apart from India.
The program is being organized to commemorate Faiz and his works, he added.
Rai said this tribute would be presented in the same format as that of 'Kaifi aur main' and 'Ghalib Nama'. Prominent urdu scholar and professor of Urdu literature at Indore University, Dr Rahat Indori would present the show, he added.
Remembering Faiz, LSS member Amrit Nagpal said Faiz was born in Sialkot and he taught at an educational institute in Amritsar. He added that Faiz's initial work was subjective when he wrote ghazals, while later he started writing for the society. Nagpal told that Faiz also faced 5 years' imprisonment by Pak government. His prominent works are Naqsh-e-Faryadi , Dast-e-Saba, Zindan-Nama, Dast-e-Tah-e-Sung, Mere Dil Mere Musafir, Sar-e-Wadi-e-Sina. "I hope that we get a marvelous response from the residents of Ludhiana," added Nagpal.
