Ludhiana: Facing charges in a rape case, Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) chief and former MLA from Atam Nagar constituency Simarjit Singh Bains applied for bail in a local court on Tuesday. On July 11, Simarjit Singh Bains along with his brother Paramjeet Singh Pamma, PA Pardeep Kumar Gogi, accomplices Jasbeer Kaur Bhabi and Baljinder Kaur surrendered before a local court. Ludhiana police arrested Simarjeet’s brother Karamjeet Singh and Sukhchain Singh, a property dealer, last week.
Police booked Simarjit Singh Bains on rape charges on the complaint of a 44-year-old woman. His accomplices were booked for conspiracy and other charges on July 10. Bain’s counsel J S Sibal said that a bail application had been filed and hearing was scheduled in the court of additional sessions judge on Wednesday. tnn
