Ludhiana: Four days after health minister Dr Balbir Singh paid a visit the civil hospital here in connection with a patient’s death in August, a staff nurse who had been entrusted with the duty of preparing the duty roster was allowed to go on voluntary retirement, showed a health department document circular issued on Wednesday.
The nurse is the seventh staffer who will be leaving service after the health department started taking action against hospital employees for negligence, which led to the patient’s fall from a stretcher and death.
Sources at the hospital said the nurse resigned by citing personal reasons. They added that the nurse may have been assigned the duty to make roster of outsourced nurses and implement the same, which may have been the reason for her resignation.
