Addl chief secy makes surprise visit to Ludhiana tehsil complex
Ludhiana: The Ludhiana East tehsil complex at Transport Nagar here had a surprise visitor on Monday, Anurag Verma, additional chief secretary-cum-financial commissioner revenue of Punjab.
Officials remained on their toes as Verma inspected the subregistrar's office and the process of registration besides the functioning of CCTVs and cleanliness of washrooms. Verma instructed the officials to ensure that registry documents contained the phone numbers of buyers and sellers. He also asked them about the registry fees charged by the subregistrar.
The additional chief secretary also spoke to applicants who had scheduled appointments, asking them about their experience at the registrar office and seeking their suggestions for improvements.
Verma said, "Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab govt is committed to providing services to people's doorsteps. This inspection is not meant to find fault with officers, but to streamline operations in govt offices. Officials must discharge their duties with honesty and ensure that citizens do not face any inconvenience during their visits to govt offices."
He also handed over land registration documents to applicants on the spot.
Deputy commissioner Jitendra Jorwal, among others, was present on the occasion.
