Action likely against 2 DSPs for misbehaving with NRI woman

Ludhiana: Following the complaint of a 40-year-old NRI woman, who was allegedly abused and manhandled by two DSPs (one posted in Ludhiana Special Task Force, and the other in Patiala), deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Ashwani Kapoor has written to senior superintendent of police (SSP) Patiala, and assistant inspector-general of police (AIG) of STF Ludhiana for departmental action against them.

The month-long investigation carried out by the DCP in the case may bring trouble for both the senior cops. The DCP had earlier conducted the probe and also got the view of district attorney (DA) Legal, regarding possible action against the DSPs. Kapoor said proper investigation was conducted, and the findings of the report have been sent to the higher authorities for further action.

The NRI woman had filed a complaint against the two DSPs at the chief minister’s office (which was later marked to Punjab DGP), and at the NRI Affairs Department (Punjab). The woman had alleged that the cops had manhandled and abused her. The probe also took note of a CCTV footage recorded outside the house of the NRI’s cousin. However, both the DSPs have refuted the allegations.
