LUDHIANA: The pure heart of a child loves with complete abandon. Haroon, 5, who lives in Jaswant Nagar is no different. The young one got very attached to one of the two goats his parents purchased for sacrifice on the occasion of Eid-ul-Zuha on Monday. They named the goats, which they bought a month ago, after their two sons - Hamza and Haroon.
Haroon loved the goat so much that he just won't give it up.
His father Mustakeem had to promise him that he would buy him two goat kids before Haroon was willing to part with his namesake.
Haroon said his goat was very cute and obedient and he always took care of him. He added that every year, his father brought goats for Eid-ul-Zuha and he used to play with them.
A student of KG sterling class at Greenland Public Senior Secondary School, Haroon said the goat had beautiful eyes and silky hair. He added that he would wake up at 6am and take the goat out in his locality . "I used to feed him almonds, fruits, leaves and pulses,'' added the little boy.
He stated that he would also take the goat for an evening walk after finishing his homework. Mustakeem said he was surprised to see how Haroon loved the goat.
He added that every year, he used to buy a goat for sacrifice and his son always liked the animals. The father mentioned that he paid Rs 22,000 for the goats this year.
He stated that Haroon used to ask him that they should only sacrifice the older goat as he found the young one cute. However, he agreed to let him go when his father assured him that he would get two more young goats for him. "I will fulfil that promise soon,'' he added.
Devotees throng mosques Devotees thronged various mosques to pay their obeisance on the occasion of Eid-ul-Zuha on Monday. Lakhs from various parts of the city converged at Jama Masjid, Suphian Bagh and other mosques. It was on Eid-ul-Zuha that Prophet Ibrahim had offered his son Ismail to Allah as a sacrifice. Allah had wanted to test him and later revealed that it was not his son, but a lamb that had been sacrificed. Shahi Imam Maulana Habib Ur Rehman Sani Ludhianvi, said, "The festival teaches us to cherish the feelings of sacrifice in hearts.''
