LUDHIANA: In one of the biggest recoveries from the city, police recovered synthetic drugs worth more than Rs 10 crore and arrested nine people. The contraband was recovered from a pharmaceutical factory in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. Police also recovered synthetic drugs worth more than Rs 7 crore from Ludhiana on September 19. These were owned by the same accused.
Ludhiana commissioner of police Paramjit Singh Gill said Parveen Kumar, who was arrested in connection with the recovery of drugs on September 19, told them of the manufacture of psychotropic drugs in the Baddi area of Himachal Pradesh.
On Monday, police recovered the drugs during a raid in the factory, owned by Pawan Goyal, his brother Krishan Kumar, Bali Singh and Sadhu Singh. The drugs included 25 kg drug powder, 1.5 lakh injections, 1.5 lakh cough syrup bottles, 8 lakh rappers, 277 gram Buprenorphine, which could be used to make 9 lakh injections and 500 grams of Diazepam, which could be used to make 50,000 capsules.
The nine accused arrested have been identified as Sukhdev Singh, a supplier from Moga, Saleem Mohammad from Kakari Kalan, Sukhraj Singh from Moga, who is the license holder of a firm being run in Pindi Street, Naresh Kumar, a supplier from Rurka, Pawan Kumar Malhotra, Parveen Garg, Puneet Garg from Sangrur , Harvinder from Malerkotla and Jatinder Kumar of Ahmadgarh. The accused to the police the drugs were manufactured in Baddi and sold in Himachal, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana.
