8 held for creating ruckus at civil hosp, manhandling staff

Ludhiana: The Division No. 2 police on Monday arrested at least eight accused for creating ruckus at Ludhiana civil hospital.The arrested accused have been identified as Sanyog Dubey of Dhoka Mohalla, Shubham Katyal of Kirpal Nagar, Ajay Verma, Ramesh Kumar and Naveen Verma of Harbanspura, Sahil Verma, Aditya Kochar and Karan.Inspector Arshpreet Kaur Grewal, SHO at Division No. 2 police station, said Naveen and Sahil, who live in the same locality, had indulged in a spat on January 13 over kite flying. Later on, they called their accomplices, leading to a scuffle. Members of both groups had suffered injuries during the clash, following which they went to the civil hospital for medical examination. However, at the hospital they again attacked each other.Inspector Grewal added the accused created ruckus at the hospital that caused panic among the patients and their relatives. When the hospital staff tried to intervene, the accused manhandled them as well.The police lodged an FIR against the accused under sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 160 (punishment for committing affray), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object) of IPC against the accused.
