5 held for serving liquor after midnight in Ludhiana

LUDHIANA: Police on Sunday arrested owners and managers of five restro-bars for serving liquor beyond the permissible time limit.
Around 12.30am, police teams conducted raids on 10 restro-bars and pubs in Sarabha Nagar, South City and Ferozepur Road. Five of them were found flouting the excise department and police directions that state that all places serving alcoholic beverages should close down by 12am.

The violators who were booked include Underdog owner Manpreet Singh Saini and its manager Anish Kumar, R2P owner Varun Bagga, Unplugged owner Manjot Sahib Singh, Peddlers owner Karan Bagga and its manager Shaminder Singh, Spice Cube owner Inderpal Singh and its manager Mrityunjay Kumar Mishra.
Varun Bagga, Manjot Sa hib Singh, Shaminder Singh, Mrityunjay Mishra and Anish Kumar were arrested and later released on bail.
Two days ago, police had served notices on the joints, asking them to comply with the rules.
Additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCPIII) Surendra Lamba said, “The raids were conducted after 12am. FIRs have been registered against Peddlers, Unplugged, R2P, Underdogs and Spice Cube for serving liquor beyond the permissible time limit. Others places like Ghantaghar, Rutba, F2 bar, FBC and joints on Canal Road were issued a warning as they were found serving dinner past-midnight.“
