2 vehicle lifters arrested, 2 cars seized

Ludhiana: Ghumar Mandi police have arrested two accused of vehicle lifting and recovered two cars from their possession, besides tracing another car. The arrested accused are Raman Kumar (27) of Gobind Singh of Harsahai, Ferozepur and Bhupinder Singh (29) of Fazilka.

Assistant commissioner of police (ACP, Civil Lines) Mandeep Singh stated that the accused were wanted by the police in vehicle lifting cases. Recently, Ferozepur police arrested Raman Kumar in a case, and he was lodged in Ferozepur jail. Ludhiana police brought him on production warrant on Monday. Following the information provided by the accused, the police have arrested his accomplice Bhupinder Singh on Tuesday.

Further, Ghumar Mandi police post in-charge, ASI Jaskaran Singh, said the accused had stolen a Maruti Alto car near Aarti Chowk, while two Honda City cars were stolen form Ammal Enclave and New Lajpat Nagar. The police have recovered one Honda City and an Alto, while another car was traced in Ferozepur. The accused had installed fake number plates on the vehicles.

A case under sections 379 (punishment for theft), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence), 465 (punishment for forgery), 471 (using as genuine a forged document), and 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the IPC has been registered against the accused.
