LUDHIANA: In a script straight out of a Bollywood flick, two persons, who posed as businessmen while checking in a city-based hotel, absconded with two 32-inch LCD TVs and bedsheets after having stayed there for 3 days.
While one of the accused has been arrested, the other is on the run.
According to information, two persons - Vinod Mishra of Panchratna apartments in Mumbai and Parmod Kumar of Barohia district of Gorakhpur, working as a private driver in the city - took two deluxe rooms in Hotel Grewal in Feroze Gandhi Market on February 25.

The accused chose to stay at the hotel for three days and ordered food and drinks as per their wishes. The duo availed services of over Rs 10,000 during their stay period. Later, when authorities asked them to make the payment, the duo panicked.
To get out of the situation, the duo plotted and made way with two 32-inch LCD TVs and bedsheets on February 28. The hotel authorities made frantic searches to trace the accused but to no avail.
Following this, they contacted police officials at police station division no 5. Acting on the complaint of Vipin Samewal, supervisor at the hotel, ASI Balbir Singh booked the accused under Sections 420, 380 and 334, IPC. The police later managed to nab one of the accused named Parmod Kumar and recovered two sets of bedsheets from his possession.
Meanwhile, the other accused Vinod Mishra managed to escape along with two LCD TVs. ASI Balbir Singh said accused Parmod Kumar was produced before the duty magistrate and sent in four-day police remand.
