The members have given their nod for the installation of compost machines for handling horticulture waste at five locations in the city. With the help of these machines, civic officials will be able to manage waste and prepare manure for plantation in MC parks. Civic officials will install a compost machine in each zone and two in Zone D. There is also a plan to install 100 smart bins in different locations of the city, and the members approved the DPR for this project as well.
MC’s executive engineer of Building & Roads department, Rahul Gagneja, said now the projects would be forwarded to members of the state-level technical committee, executive committee, and board of directors so that tenders could be floated. After passing through the tendering process almost three times, the retrofitting of Sarabha Nagar market and development of Malhar Road as a smart road also got a nod from members of the city committee. Now, the case would be forwarded to senior officials for allotment of work, he added.
City-based architect Sanjay Goel — one of the directors of LSCL — said the city-level committee had approved the projects, but there was a long and tedious process through which the projects pass, and it was due to this long process that projects were getting delayed.
