LUDHIANA: Two days after murder of 18-year-old Avtar Singh of Dhandari Kalan, the police have arrested three accused on Sunday. According to police, the deceased had an affair with the sister of one of the accused following which he along with his two accomplice attacked victim with sharp-edged weapon after Dussehra mela and dumped his body near Railway tracks in village Malipur, assuming he was dead.
However, some local residents saw injured Avtar and sounded police. He was rushed to a private hospital in Doraha from where he was referred to Ludhiana based private hospital in Civil Lines. There Avtar succumbed to his injuries.
In this case, the police have arrested accused Jaspreet Singh, 21, of Dhandhari Kalan of Ludhiana, his cousin
Inderpal Singh of Village Jatana, 23, and friend Gurpal Singh, 22, of village Araichan of Doraha.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP- Khanna)) Dhruv Dahiyasaid that Avtar Singh was student of class 12 at RamgarhiaSenior Secondary School, Miller Gunj. During investigation, the police came to know that Avtar Singh had a love affair with sister of Jaspreet Singh, who was against it.
"On Friday, when Avtar Singh was going back home after enjoying Dussehra mela at Doraha, Jaspreet Singh called him. He asked Avtar to return on pretext of going to another mela. The accused took him to Malipur village in a three-wheeler, where rather going to Mela, they stabbed him with sharp edged weapons multiple times," said the SSP.
Thereafter the accused dumped Avtar near Railway track in Malipur assuming him dead and fled. They also dumped the sharp edged weapon, used in crime, in a pond and also broke Avtar's mobile phone.
The accused have also dumped their phone which they used in calling Avtar Singh.
The SSP said the police have recovered the vehicle in which they ferried Avtar and also their blood-stained clothes.
Gurdit Singh, a cousin of Avtar, revealed to police that couple of days ago Jaspreet threatened Avtar for not talking to his sister.
