LUDHIANA: Eleven persons
tested positive
for
chikungunya and 31 others for
dengue
on Friday. With these fresh cases, the number of positive cases of chickengunya has reached 58 and dengue 318 in the district. Meanwhile, with cases of dengue and chikungunya being reported at hospitals, the sale of mosquito repellent creams, coils, gels, oils and other vapourizers has increased.
Besides, the sale of insecticide has also gone up. Keeping in view the spurt in cases of dengue and chikungunya, people are resorting to preventive measures. The sale of coils and creams has doubled.
Meanwhile, district epidemiologist Dr
Ramesh Kumar
said the efforts are being made for prevention of dengue and chikungunya. He said there is no need for separate drives for chikungunya as it is the same mosquito which spreads dengue and chikungunya. tnn
