LUDHIANA: Two days after miscreants robbed two employees of a petrol pump of Rs 7 lakh in Khanna, police on Thursday arrested five accused, including one of the fuel station staffers, for the crime.

The accused were identified as Pardeep Singh of Khanna, Raman Sharma of Shivpuri in Khanna, Manish Kumar and Rajat Arora, both of Ram Nagar in Khanna and Vikas Bali of Peerkhana Road in Khanna.

On October 31, Pardeep along with his colleague Paramjit Singh were going to a bank near old bus stand in Khanna to deposit cash of a Mandi Gobindgarh fuel station, when two miscreants came on a scooter and threw chili powder in their eyes and snatched a bag containing Rs 7 lakh. Khanna city two police had later registered a case under dacoity and snatching sections against the unidentified accused.

Khanna SP (investigation) Dr Pragya Jain said police had doubts over the incident from beginning. Later during Pardeep’s questioning, police found his involvement in the case. She said Pardeep was the main accused who had hatched the conspiracy and had roped in four of his friends for the crime.

Police said Manish had arranged the scooter for Rs 20,000. They added that the police probe ruled out the involvement of another employee in the crime. The SP said police have recovered Rs 4.7 lakh, 20g heroin and a two-wheeler from them. She said the accused Raman and Vikas were wanted in several criminal cases. tnn
