Lucknow: Deaths due to Japanese Encephalitis (JE) and Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) have declined by 95% and 90% respectively, in 2021 as compared to 2017, officials of the health department informed chief minister Yogi Adityanath during a presentation on Saturday.
The total number of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) and Japanese Encephalitis (JE) cases in the state have also declined during the period by 65% and 78%, respectively, due to sustained campaigns in encephalitis-prone districts.
The state government is set to launch ‘Zero Mission’ to eradicate vector-borne diseases. The government also aims to eradicate tuberculosis by 2025.
The Uttar Pradesh government is also planning to double the number of ambulances equipped with a high-quality life support system and appoint 6,000 doctors and 10,000 paramedical staff to improve healthcare.

in the state so that people can get medicines at cheaper rates.
According to the presentation, deaths from Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) and Japanese Encephalitis dipped from 594 and 81 in 2017 to 58 and 4 in 2021 while the number of cases dropped from 4,758 and 677 to 1,664 and 148, respectively, during the period.
