LUCKNOW: Intermittent rainfall for the past four days in many parts of
Uttar Pradesh, particularly moderate to heavy showers overnight on Tuesday, has helped the state to overcome its rainfall deficit this monsoon.
According to the state met department, the monsoon trough is passing from over the state and a cyclonic circulation is over northwest UP, which means the conditions are favourable for more rainfall in most parts of the state, including Lucknow till the weekend.
Highest 130 mm rainfall was recorded in Bareilly in 24 hours from Monday 8.30 pm till Tuesday morning.
It was followed by about 90 mm in Rae Bareli, around 70 mm each Balrampur and Jhansi, about 60 mm in Ambedkar Nagar, Ayodhya, Deoria and Pratapgarh, while about 50 mm each was recorded in Barabanki, Gorakhpur and Shrawasti.
Around 40 mm each in Kannauj, Ambedkar Nagar, Sonbhadra and Maharajganj and about 30 mm each in Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Kannauj, Badaun, Moradabad and Jaulan was recorded.
The rain score of the state from June 1 till June 30 this monsoon was 19% below normal, which following intermittent rainfall for the past four days has improved by 25 percentage points to 6% above normal in the past four days.
The average per district rainfall from June 1 till date was 125.5 mm, which is more than the normal 118 6 mm set for the period.
Rainfall was more in the east UP, comprising 42 districts, including Lucknow in this period. As a result, the overall rainfall, which was 44% below normal, has now improved to 4% below normal, an increase of 40 percentage points.The rainfall was comparatively lower in the West UP having 33 districts in the past four days. The overall rainfall inthe region from June 1 till June 30 was 30% above normal, which has dropped to 26% above normal.
