The police on Saturday arrested a youth, who called up a senior bureaucrat and presented himself as CM's personal secretary to mount pressure on the IAS officer regarding promotion of his father.

LUCKNOW: The police on Saturday arrested a youth, who called up a senior bureaucrat and presented himself as CM's personal secretary to mount pressure on the IAS officer regarding promotion of his father. The accused Himanshu Upadhyay's father is employed with the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Sugar Factories Federation Ltd as assistant security officer at Kayamganj sugar mill in Farrukhabad.

Himanshu called up Ravi Prakash Arora, managing director of the federation several times last month in order to pressurise him and get promotion order for his father Ramkumar Sharma. Upadhyay instructed Arora to promote Sharma to security officer at the said mill. Arora met the CM's secretary on January 1 to confirm if it was really him who had been calling him up. The secretary replied in the negative and then Arora reported the matter to Hazratganj police.
The police put the caller's mobile phone under surveillance and obtained the caller's details from the mobile company. The police found out that Upadhyay had faked someone else's documents to procure the connection. Nevertheless his location was traced and on being grilled he confessed to have called up the managing director of the federation.
