‘Youth in Lucknow hope their vote will fetch new jobs’
LUCKNOW: Employment remains a major concern for the youth in the state. A survey of 540 students pursuing different courses in Lucknow shows that 83% of them are expecting the new government to focus on improving the employment scenario in several sectors and creating better education opportunities.

Undertaken by the Isabella Thoburn (IT) College, the survey found 68.6% students seeking integrating employability skills in higher education courses.
A whopping 77.8% of students said there should be stringent laws and mechanisms to check cyber bullying. Another 73% of the respondents reported saying that the government should conduct online exams in times of pandemic.
“I expect a government which gives new opportunities to the upcoming generation and provides equality in terms of caste, religion, gender and background,” said 20-year-old Satakshi Gupta, one of the respondents.
The survey said 69% of youth believed the expensive hospitals are the biggest problem in the healthcare system. As many as 37.3% of youth felt that the government could have better handled the pandemic by ensuring improved healthcare.
Another 34.5% youth rooted for the concept of guaranteeing universal basic income for each family.
According to 19-year-old Shivansh Agarwal, also a respondent, the transportation system needed an overhauling. “With access to all age group people, I expect the government to provide transportation at affordable prices with easy availability and accessibility,” he said.
College principal Vinita Prakash said, “At IT College, we organize various events to create awareness for voting rights especially among the students who are first time voters. In this context, a survey was conducted by the commerce department regarding the opportunities and expectations of the youth particularly with reference to women’s safety, education, and employability.”
