Yogi Adityanath calls emergency meet, UP-Nepal border sealed

LUCKNOW: As the Supreme Court registrar announced that the much-awaited verdict on the Ayodhya issue in its list for Saturday, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath convened an unscheduled emergency meeting of his core team to review the state's preparations, with the verdict coinciding with the large-scale congregation of pilgrims in Ayodhya for Panchkosi

. Yogi summoned additional chief secretary Awanish Awasthi late on Friday night along with director general of police OP Singh, acting chief secretary RK Tewari and other top officers dealing with law and order, intelligence bureau, state intelligence and other key departments.


Immediately after the meeting lasting for over an hour, Awasthi told TOI that apart from Section 144 imposed all over the state, the UP-Nepal border has been sealed and no one without proper identity would be allowed to move along the sensitive border.

Awasthi said that railway forces have been directed to take safety and security of railway passengers inside trains and railway stations.

Special security arrangements have been made for pilgrims in Ayodhya and more buses deployed around the temple town if anyone wanted to go back to their home, the government buses would be available.

In yet another major decision Awasthi said social media has been put under scanner and nearly 70 persons have already been booked in the last few days and anyone posting communal stuff to vitiate the atmosphere would not be spared. Yogi called over a dozen commissioners to take direct feedback of the ground situation and also issue necessary directives.
