'Wrangled victim’s neck with cloth, slit her throat': Lucknow woman killed by minor daughter & her boyfriend
LUCKNOW: In the state capital’s Chinhat area, a 40-yearold woman was allegedly murdered by her 15-year-old daughter and the daughter’s 17-year-old boyfriend in the early hours of Sunday.
The duo attempted to stage the murder as a sexual assault and robbery case to mislead investigators. However, CCTV cameras installed in the alley and intensive questioning by the police led the duo to confess to their crime.
According to the police, the woman was found dead with her throat slit in her home around 3:30 am. The woman and the girl lived alone as her husband had died a decade ago.
The daughter initially claimed that unidentified assailants broke in, killed her mother, and fled. She also raised an alarm from the terrace and informed relatives, prompting neighbours to reach the spot. A neighbour then informed the girl’s maternal uncle, who reached the scene and subsequently informed the police. DCP (East Zone) Shashank Singh arrived at the scene and questioned the girl in the presence of her maternal uncle and a woman officer.
“We asked her how many persons entered the home, whether they were armed or unarmed, why no signs of robbery were visible, and her exact location in the house when the incident took place. In the meantime, the police checked the CCTVs and found no entry in the colony or exit in the last hour,” said the DCP.
The girl was unable to provide a definite answer and continued to mislead further. However, her phone call to a youth before her mother’s murder gave us a crucial lead about someone she did not initially reveal. Later, she narrated the entire incident.
Singh said that the minor girl had a love affair with the juvenile offender involved in the woman’s murder case. “The two had eloped last year, and the Chinhat police had successfully recovered the girl. The boy was sent to a juvenile home. After his release, he again contacted the girl. He used to say that he would kill her mother for sending him to the juvenile home,” the DCP said.
According to police, on Saturday night, the juvenile offender tiptoed into the deceased’s house, where he, along with the accused minor girl, first wrangled the victim’s neck with a piece of cloth and then slit her throat with a glass shard, leaving her to bleed to death. To fox the cops, they stripped the victim’s body naked to create an impression of rape.
The DCP added that the two planned to flee to Bengaluru and had even purchased rail tickets for the journey. The duo was sent to the shelter home and will be produced before the juvenile justice board soon.
