Woman shot at by dejected lover, critical

Lucknow: A 24-year-old woman was shot at in Para area by a man obsessed with her in a one-sided love affair.
The accused along with an accomplice barged into the house of the woman and opened fire, leaving her critically injured. Victim Priyanka Yadav was shot in the abdomen and is currently battling for life in a hospital. Her screams drew the attention of neighbours, but by the time help arrived, the attackers fled.
The police said the prime accused Satish Yadav alias Danny long harboured unreciprocated feelings for Priyanka, who lived in the Hanskhera locality.
"Despite repeated rejections, Satish continued trying to initiate contact. Matters escalated when he found out that Priyanka was in friendship with his brother Sandeep — something that reportedly triggered anger and jealousy," said DCP, west zone, Vishwajeet Srivastava.
On Thursday around 1:45 am, Satish arrived at Priyanka's residence, knocked on the door and allegedly shot her point-blank in the stomach.
Priyanka was rushed to a nearby hospital by her brother and Sandeep. Her condition was stated to be critical. , where doctors confirmed the gunshot wound to her abdomen. Her condition remains critical, according to hospital sources.
An FIR was lodged and police teams were formed to track down Satish and his accomplice. "Search operations are underway and we will soon nab the accused," a police officer said.The incident has caused panic in the neighbourhood, and police presence has been increased in the area.
