Woman duped of over ₹98,000 in click fraud case

Lucknow: A woman was duped of over Rs 98,000 in a case of click fraud. The complainant informed the Gomtinagar police that she was looking for a part-time job when she received a message on WhatsApp asking her to click a link to earn money.She was asked to transfer money with the promise that after every transaction, she would get her money back with additional bonus amount. In the hope of hitting a jackpot, she paid total Rs 98,223.In another incident, a Gomtinagar resident, Nikhil Chaudhary, was defrauded of about Rs 50,000 in the name of being awarded dealership of electric bike. Chaudhary said he was looking for a business opportunity and invested Rs 49,900 for a dealership while responding to an email. “The money was paid through my uncle’s bank account. I talked with the owner of the company who demanded more money. When I wanted to meet him, he refused and switched off his mobile phone,” he alleged. tnn
