LUCKNOW: A 34-year-old woman on Tuesday accused six men — all relatives of her deceased husband — of restraining, harassing and assaulting her near
Gomtinagar
police station on December 22. She said she could muster courage to lodge the complaint only after her cousin arrived from Gujarat on Monday.
According to the
FIR
, the resident of Vastu Khand had gone to buy groceries from a mall in Gomtinagar that afternoon.
When the rickshaw she was travelling in reached near St Joseph’s hospital on its way to Patrakarpuram, an SUV intercepted it.
Four of the men got off the vehicle and allegedly held her hostage. One reportedly slapped her several times.
As passers-by stopped to see what the matter was, the men left but not before threatening to kill her if she did not take back a case of cheating, dishonesty and forgery that she had lodged against them in Gonda on September 13 last year.
The complainant said her husband died in January 2016 and his property, including a public distribution shop, was transferred in her name. However, her
in-laws
challenged the property transfer in court.
“Later, my in-laws came up with a forged will, claiming that two days before his death, my husband had transferred all his property to them. That is when I lodged the cheating FIR. In revenge, I was assaulted on December 22,” she said.
Gomtinagar SHO Amit Kumar Dubey said they were verifying the allegations. “We will record her formal statement soon,” he added.
