Lucknow: City residents can now witness the valour of the Indian Armed Forces through a 30-minute Hindi laser, light and sound show at the Smritika War Memorial in Lucknow Cantonment.
The show traces the history, key operations and evolving role of the

The presentation covers key moments from India’s major conflicts, including the 1947-48, 1962, 1965 and 1971 wars, along with operations such as Operation Meghdoot and Operation Vijay.
The show also highlights the role of Central Command in various operations and brings focus to acts of bravery from the Awadh region, including Param Vir Chakra awardees, while touching upon the region’s long-standing martial traditions.
The story of martyrs, including Brigadier Mohammad Usman, Naik Jadunath Singh, Captain Abdul Hameed, Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey, will be showcased.
Officials said the show also reflects the Indian Army’s ongoing modernisation in response to changing warfare needs. It incorporates themes linked to the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative, including advancements in the domestic defence sector and the emergence of Uttar Pradesh as a hub for defence manufacturing, with reference to the state’s upcoming defence corridor.
To support the show, the memorial campus is being upgraded with new projection systems, sound infrastructure and murals depicting modern military equipment and war trophies.
A new amphitheatre has also been constructed, along with three dedicated mural walls that will serve as both display spaces and projection surfaces.
The memorial also has several selfie spots where the public can go and take selfies on replicas of war fronts.
The project has been executed by the Central Command in collaboration with Uttar Pradesh govt and the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation.
