West UP betters its Phase II show, but falls short of 1st Div

LUCKNOW: Despite hot and humid weather, over 57% voters exercised their franchise in the third phase of polling across 10 constituencies of west UP on Tuesday. Although it was approximately three percentage points less than the turnout of 2019, it marked an improvement over the second phase of polling on April 26 when 55.19% turned up to vote.

According to the Election Commission of India, 57.34 % voters exercised their franchise till 8 pm on Tuesday, as compared to 60.02% in 2019.

Chief electoral officer Navdeep Rinwa said that over 250 complaints were received, but they were redressed and polling went off peacefully. According to ECI, with 18.98 lakh voters Sambhal parliamentary constituency registered 62.81% highest turnout while reserved seat Agra with 20.72 lakh voters, recorded lowest at 53.99 %.
