A case in this regard has already been filed in Chandigarh and now in a written letter to LU VC S B Nimse, officer on special duty Vigilance, Chandigarh Sukhraj Katewa has asked him to file a separate complaint with local police in Lucknow because the offence took place on LU campus.
Chandigarh Vigilance in its investigation found accused Ashok Kumar had obtained these certificates by illegal means and roll number FBP-63240 was not allotted to Ashok Kumar, son of R Chandra, instead it was given to Ashok Kumar, son of M Chandra.
In the letter, Katewa, has said “The hand written entries were made with the motive to help accused Ashok Kumar. This offence was committed at Lucknow in connivance with LU officials, which is a separate offence, and hence a complaint to the local police should be made.”
Though the university received the letter on September 20, the complaint is yet to be lodged. When contacted, Nimse said, “Of course, a complaint will be lodged. I was out of town, so it could not be followed up. FIR will be lodged shortly.’’
In fact, a three-member fact-finding committee formed by LU on May 9, 2013 had also reached the same conclusion as stated by Chandigarh Vigilance. The committee comprising professors J V Vaishampayan, Pawan Agarwal and A K Sharma submitted their report on June 13, 2013. The report found that roll number 63240 was never allotted to Ashok Kumar, son of R Chandra in years 1996, 1997 and 1998 and that it was allotted to Ashok Kumar, son of M Chandra. Further, it also said the handwritten entries made in the university’s chart for roll number 63240 for Ashok Kumar, son of R Chandra was not genuine but fake. The report was conveyed to SSP and Vigilance, Chandigarh under the signatures of the then controller of examination Aqeel Ahmed. Chandigarh Vigilance included LU report in its investigations, but LU authorities has not taken further action.
Meanwhile, university has handed over the mass number of fake marksheets unearthed by candidates seeking jobs in government schools to Special Task Force of the UP Police.
