UP: Varun Gandhi seeks action against DM and SP of Pilibhit for violating Janata Curfew
LUCKNOW: BJP MP from Pilibhit Varun Gandhi on Monday raised the ante seeking action against the DM and SSP of Pilibhit for violating the "Janata Curfew"called by PM Narendra Modi on Sunday to check the spread of novel coronavirus.
Gandhi tweeted a video which showed Pilibhit DM
Varun tweeted: "While many people, including myself are in self quarantine and India battles Covid-19 on a war footing, the conduct of the SP and DM of Pilibhit is callous and irresponsible. Times like these need mature conduct, like the PM advised. I urge action against those who violated the Janata Curfew."
His post immediately went viral, receiving over 1 lakh views, nearly 10,000 likes and was retweeted more than 2200 times.
Sources said that the state government was contemplating action since the DM and SP violated the call given by PM -- to stay indoors while clapping or clanging bells. When contacted, additional chief secretary, Avanish Kumar Awasthi maintained that the state government was aware of the incident. He, refused to comment further.
