<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">PRATAPGARH: Union agriculture minister Rajnath Singh heaped praises on Atal Bihari Vajpayee and sought to strengthen his government at the Centre, which, he said, is all set to rule for the next five years. Addressing a gathering on Wednesday afternoon at Deevanganj about 17 km from here, Singh appealed to vote for KN Tripathi, the BJP candidate from Machhalishahar constituency.<br /><br />The former chief minister, who was brought here to influence the Rajput voters, shrewdly evaded the issue of Pota and the alleged atrocities on Raja Bhaiyya and his brigade by the BJP-supported government of Mayawati.
He, however, drew comparisons of the NDA rule with the Congress rule at the Centre and said that in the Congress regime, the country could not become self-reliant, let alone be powerful. During NDA rule the country acquired power, status and dignity amongst the most powerful countries of the world, he said.<br /><br />Singh said that Vajpayee as the Prime Minister made India prosperous and powerful, despite the fact the he had to face the ire of Bill Clinton at the time of Pokhran Nuclear Test. We have not only started exporting our foodgrain and other produce, but also succeeded in paying off our debts, he added.<br /><br />Reiterating the NDA government’s commitment to farmers, the Agriculture Minister said that the Prime Minister had taken special interest to enhance the facilities for farmers.<br /><br />He made special mention of link roads, Kisan credit card, crops insurance scheme, easy loan for tractors and farming equipment etc. He also mentioned the farmers’ call centers and 15,000 crore package for model cooperatve banks, which will help farmers immensely.<br /><br />Ridiculing Sonia’s claim of serving the country, Rajnath Singh offered her to serve like Mother Teresa, Annie Beasant and Sarala Ben.<br /><br />He said while Atal ha denounced married life for the sake of the nation, Sonia renounced her country for the sake of married life.<br /><br />The former chief minister also lauded the role of Atal in the successful diplomatic missions of the country, which has made China accept the claim on Tibet and Pak citizens appreciate the Indian efforts at peace and harmony.<br /><br />Earlier, KN Tripathi, former ministers Shivakant Ojha, Moti Singh and Brajesh Sharma accorded a very warm welcome to Rajnath Singh.<br /><br /><formid=526372></formid=526372></div> </div>
