LUCKNOW: A selfie from a smartphone over an oil tanker rake turned deadly for youth after he came in direct contact with an overhead high-tension wire in Barabanki district.


The incident took place at around 5.05pm on Sunday at Tahsil Fatehpur railway station on Sitapur-Burhwal section of Lucknow division north eastern railway zone.

The deceased victim was identified as Salauddin (20), resident of Brahmin Tola of Tahisl Fatehpur police limits. His father, Islam Qureshi, is a daily wage worker. According to local sources, Salauddin had visited railway station along with his two other friends.

Speaking to TOI, Sanjay Maurya, station house officer of Tahsil Fatehpur said, "Salauddin had climbed atop the oil tanker rake and was attempting to take selfie when he came in direct contact of the overhead wire. He was killed instantly and his body was charred."

"On Monday, the remains of the youth was handed over to his family," he added.
