GORAKHPUR: A middle-aged man, his wife and elder daughter were killed allegedly by the spurned lover of the girl in Khorabar police station area of Gorakhpur district late Monday evening. Heavy police force has been deployed in the area.
A police team along with Gorakhpur SSP Vipin Tada and ADG Akhil Kumar reached the spot after getting information and sent the body for postmortem.
The deceased were identified as Gama Nishad (42), his wife Sanju (38), and his daughter Preeti (20). Police have nabbed one accused Alok Paswan, who is being questioned.
The incident took place 800 meters away from the house of the victims at Bangla Chowk in Raiganj area under Khorabar police station limit, when the three were going to attend a wedding ceremony at the house of his brother Rama Nishad’s house, said Vipin Tada, SSP Gorakhpur.
“Around 9.30 pm, on the way, the three were intercepted by accused Alok. A verbal dispute took place between them, over the marriage of Preeti. As the verbal duel intensified, Alok attacker Gama on his neck with a sharp-edged weapon. When his wife Sanju and Preeti came to the rescue, they were also attacked on their necks. Thereafter, the three family members were lying in a pool of blood on the roadside,” said ADG, Gorakhpur, Akhil Kumar, while narrating the sequence of events and added that so far involvement of only one person has come to fore.
According to the SSP, Alok was romantically inclined to Preeti but she had spurned him several times. “He seems to have got enraged when her wedding was fixed. But an investigation is underway and things will become clear soon." SSP Tada said.
The locals spotted them and then informed the police. Kumar said that Gama’s son Achchelal and a daughter survived as they took another road passage to reach the function.
