UP diaspora in Dubai shows keen interest in state’s investment potential
Lucknow: The potential to invest in Uttar Pradesh received massive interest at a UP Diaspora Investor Meet held in Dubai recently. Several individuals and important business groups expressed interest in specific sectors, pledging huge investments in the state.At the programme organised by Invest UP and UPDF Diaspora, minister of state (independent charge) Ravindra Jaiswal highlighted the initiatives taken by the state govt to promote investment in UP and spoke about the 25 sectoral policies issued to promote the development of specific sectors.A govt spokesperson said guests expressed interest in several key sectors, including tourism, where many discussed proposals for resorts, logistics, vegetable exports, and the Matrubhoomi Yojana. The team from UP also elaborated on opportunities under the Make in India initiative, in addition to infrastructure developments in the state and country, and measures taken to promote easier investments for non-resident Indians.A short film showcasing infrastructure, tourism, and investment in the state was also presented, complemented by PowerPoint presentations on various topics, including the single-window system in UP and the initiatives of Invest UP. The team also invited the UP diaspora in Dubai to visit key religious sites in the state such as Varanasi, Mathura, Ayodhya, Lucknow, and Prayagraj.Among those who expressed interest in investing in the state, one Irfan Izhar spoke about the possibility of investing in a resort in Aligarh while Yusuf Khan aimed to venture into logistics in western UP. Rajesh Agarwal shared his intention to donate his ancestral land to establish a hospital in honour of his ancestors. Dubai's Madina Group also expressed interest in opening a centre to facilitate the export of fruits and vegetables from the region. Former UAE minister Mohammad Saeed Kindi, who participated in the programme, praised India and encouraged the diaspora.During the programme, the Dubai Cultural Forum of UPDF announced the publication of a book highlighting the struggles and successes of accomplished Indians and migrants from UP living in Dubai. "This initiative aims to provide valuable insights for young entrepreneurs in India by sharing the experiences and challenges faced by these successful individuals," the spokesperson said.The event was followed by a cultural programme where folk singer Deepak Tripathi from Lucknow and Kanchan Awasthi regaled audiences. A Ramlila was staged by artists from Mathura, led by Sahitya Chaturvedi, the general secretary of UP Diaspora UP Connect and a Chartered Accountant from Mathura, the official said.
