LUCKNOW: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath undertook an aerial survey of the flood affected districts of Siddharthnagar, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti and Gorakhpur on Thursday and also interacted with people affected by floods in these districts.
Saying that floods at this time of the year were not expected, the CM said that flood waters were likely to start receding in another four to five days.

During this time, the administration had been directed to use additional boats and steamers and deploy as much manpower as needed for the distribution of relief material. The agriculture and revenue departments have been told to assess damage to crops immediately so that compensation can be paid to affected families.
For those who have lost family members, the government will be issuing a compensation of Rs 4 lakh, between Rs 60,000 to Rs 2.5 lakh for serious injuries and Rs 1.2 lakh under the CM Awas Yojna for those who have lost their homes.
The CM announced that a survey of deceased cattle is also being carried out along with loss to crops. Affected farmers, he said, will get compensation at the rate of Rs 18,000 per hectare. For perennial crops, assistance will be given at the rate of Rs 22,500 per hectare.

A compensation of Rs 37,500 will be provided on the death of milch cattle, cow, buffalo etc, Rs 4,000 on the death of goat, sheep or pig, Rs 32,000 on the death of non-milk animal like camel, horse etc, Rs 20,000 on the death of calf, donkey, pony etc and Rs 100 on death of a hen. The government will also provide assistance on the loss to fishermen.
He instructed officials to start a sanitation campaign and ensure that the supply of clean drinking water and power is restored and roads damaged by the floods are repaired before Diwali.

During his visit to Gorakhpur, the CM approved a proposal by MP Kamlesh Paswan and MLA Rajesh Tripathi for construction of an embankment at Bariya-Sariya along the Saryu river and said that the government would prepare a project for preventing floods at the confluence of Saryu and Rapti rivers.
He also directed officials to prepare a plan for relocating people living on the other side of the river in the Ghanghata tehsil as they were inundated by floods each year.
