CM meets Bahraich victim’s family, announces Rs 10L ex gratia, house
Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday met the family of Ram Gopal Mishra, who was killed in Bahraich violence, at his official residence in Lucknow.The CM announced the ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh, a house under the PM Awas Yojana, health card of Rs 5 lakh and benefits of other govt schemes to the family.BJP MLA from Mahsi (Bahraich district), Sureshwar Singh, accompanied the family.After meeting the CM, Ram Gopal's cousin Kishan Mishra told TOI, "The assurance that the CM has given us is exactly what we needed. He assured us of strict action against the criminals and promised us a house and possibly a job for my sister-in-law. He also assured ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh. We are fully satisfied with the assurance given by the CM."Later, MLA Sureshwar Singh said, "The CM consoled the family members of Ram Gopal Mishra. Besides ex gratia and house, the family will get an Antyodaya card and benefits of other schemes which the family is eligible for.""The situation in Bahraich is normal after the last rites of Ram Gopal. No untoward incident took place on Tuesday. The accused will be arrested soon and will be dealt with strictly," Singh said.In a post on X in Hindi, the CM said, "I met the grief-stricken family members of the youth who died in the unfortunate incident in Bahraich district. In this hour of grief, the Uttar Pradesh govt stands with the victim's family with full sensitivity and commitment.""Rest assured, providing justice to the victim's family is the top priority of @UPGovt. The culprits of this extremely reprehensible and unforgivable incident will not be spared at any cost," he added.The govt also shared a video of the CM's meeting with Ram Gopal's wife Roli Mishra, his father Kailash Nath Mishra, mother Munni Devi, and cousin Kishan. In the video clip, Kailash could be seen asking his wife to control her emotions while the CM was speaking to them. The couple were seen wiping off their tears, even as their daughter-in-law sat in silence.Mishra was shot dead, and about half a dozen people were injured in stone-pelting and firing as communal violence broke out in Maharajganj area of Bahraich near Rehua Mansoor village in Mahsi tehsil during a Durga idol immersion procession in Bahraich on Sunday. His last rites were performed amid heavy security on Monday.
