Nod to amendment in gratutity

Lucknow: Cabinet gave nod to the proposal to amend the Uttar Pradesh Retirement Benefits Rules 1961. Under this amendment, if an employee dies while in service or after retirement without receiving the gratuity and has no surviving family member or nominee, the gratuity can now be paid to the person designated in a succession certificate issued by a court. Until now the gratuity was transferred to govt in such cases, finance minister Suresh Khanna noted.
