Uttar Pradesh: BJP names Satya Prakash Mani as its candidate for Deoria bypoll

LUCKNOW: The BJP on Wednesday announced candidature of

Satya Prakash Mani

as the party candidate for bypoll-bound Deoria assembly seat which fell vacant following the death of party MLA Janmejay Singh. The bypoll for the constituency is scheduled to be held on November 3 along with six other seats.


The candidature of Satya Prakash Mani ended all speculations of fielding any high profile leader from the seat.

Mani, fondly known as ‘Guddu Babu’ among the BJP workers, is an associate professor of political science in Sant Vinoba Degree College. He was a former member of the zila panchayat, Baitalpur in Deoria and is currently a district-level functionary of the saffron party.

On Tuesday, the BJP had announced the names of six candidates for the by-elections slated on November 3.
