Uttar Pradesh: 5 killed, 6 injured in SUV-tempo collision in Shravasti

LUCKNOW: Five people lost their lives while six others sustained severe injuries when an SUV collided head-on with a tempo near Mohanipur on National Highway-730 in Shravasti district on Saturday.

The collision was so intense that both vehicles plunged into a nearby ditch.

Police rushed to the scene after receiving information and arranged for the injured to be admitted to a hospital.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the incident and extended condolences to the families of the deceased. He directed officials to expedite relief and rescue operations.

Among the victims, three were identified as Rafiq, son of Idris, from Birpur under Payagpur Police Station; Nanke Yadav (45), son of Mangal Prasad, from Barai Purwa under Gilaula Police Station; and Lallan Pandey, son of Subedar Pandey, from Purwa.

Efforts are ongoing to identify the other two victims.

The injured were being treated at the district hospital.
