UPPCB to keep AI’s eye on pollution
Lucknow: In a push towards technology-driven environmental governance, the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) will now use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to monitor and control pollution across the state. For this, UPPCB signed an MoU with the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Lucknow on Tuesday in the presence of UPPCB chairman R P Singh and IIIT director Arun Mohan Sherry.
Under the MoU, IIIT Lucknow will develop an AI-based monitoring and analytics system that will integrate multiple data sources, including web and PTZ camera feeds, Online Continuous Emission and Effluent Monitoring Systems (OCEEMS) from sewage treatment plants (STPs) and industries, as well as data related to biomedical waste management.
