'Left due to repeated abuse': UP woman denies eloping with beggar
LUCKNOW: A 36-year-old woman from Hardoi district, Uttar Pradesh, who was initially reported to have abandoned her husband and six children to elope with a beggar, told the police she left home to escape repeated abuse and physical violence by her husband.
The police have confirmed that the allegations of her eloping are false and unfounded, and further action is underway.
Her husband, Raju Kumar, has filed an FIR under Section 87 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), accusing the beggar of abduction.
Kumar lives with his wife Rajeshwari and their six children in the Harpalpur area of Hardoi.
In his complaint, Raju stated that a beggar named Nanhe Pandit, also 45, frequently visited their neighborhood seeking alms.
Over time, Pandit and Rajeshwari developed a friendship and stayed in contact, including phone conversations, according to Kumar.
On the afternoon of January 3, Rajeshwari informed her eldest daughter, Khushboo, that she was going to the market to buy clothes and vegetables.
However, she never returned home.
Despite extensive searches, Raju was unable to locate his wife.
He alleged that Rajeshwari left with the money he had earned from selling a buffalo and suspects that Nanhe Pandit may have taken her away.
Harpalpur police, led by SHO Raj Dev Mishra, have launched a search operation for Nanhe Pandit.
