"From 1947 to 2017, only 10 lakh agricultural connections were provided in 70 years. But in the last eight years, our govt has issued over 15 lakh new farmer connections, half of them in the last three years alone," Sharma told the House on Wednesday.
Sharma further said that the country was taking note of the improved performance of UP discoms. "Their ratings have improved significantly—moving upward from C-minus to C, C to B-minus, and further up. This is unprecedented progress," he added. UP's generation and transmission companies, such as the unit at Anpara, have been recognised nationally as the best in the country, he told the Assembly, adding that it was a feat never achieved before by any UP power company.
