Lucknow: In continuation of Uttar Pradesh's attempt to roll out the red carpet for the film industry, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar's 'Airlift' has been made tax-free in the state.
Even before the state government put out an official notification, the announcement was tweeted by actor Akshay Kumar on his Twitter handle, where he also thanked chief minister Akhilesh Yadav.

Akshay said, "Just been informed the Uttar Pradesh Govt. has declared #Airlift as Tax Free.Thank you to the young & progressive team led by @yadavakhilesh."
The film, based on the real story of evacuation of Indians based in Kuwait, opened last week to rave reviews from critics and fans. Akshay's 'Airlift' co-star Nimrat Kaur retweeted his post. She said, "So incredible and hopefully a first of many more to follow. #TaxFree #Airlift."
The movie has been directed by Raja Krishna Menon and co-produced by Nikhil Advani and was released in cinemas last week.
