LUCKNOW: Though UP Madrasa Education Board has asked state-aided madrassas to provide video footage of their Independence Day celebrations to district minority welfare officers, the state basic education department has waived government primary schools from submitting similar evidence.
Basic education board secretary Sanjay Sinha said, “We trust our schools.
1x1 polls
They’re our teachers, our students, so why should we seek any evidence?"
A letter issued by Sinha to to district basic shiksha adhikaris said 70 years of freedom will be celebrated in schools at 8am on August 15 by unfurling the national flag and singing the national anthem. Schools have been asked to carry out a cleanliness drive involving students and parents. Students should also be made aware of the freedom struggle, revolutionaries and their contributions, the letter says.
Schools have also been told to hold cultural and sports events on the theme of national unity and plant saplings. The day is to end with distribution of sweets to the students and staff.
