UP: Boy strangles minor to avenge brother's death

A 14-year-old boy was arrested for the murder of his minor neighbour in Rae Bareli on Friday. The accused claimed he was convinced that Satyam (7) had killed his minor brother by pushing him into a pond in September last year.

LUCKNOW: A 14-year-old boy was arrested for the murder of his minor neighbour in Rae Bareli on Friday. The accused claimed he was convinced that Satyam (7) had killed his minor brother by pushing him into a pond in September last year.
To avenge his brother’s death, the accused invited Satyam for a walk on Wednesday, took him to the fields and strangled him.

Later, he dumped Satyam’s body in a ditch and escaped. The body was recovered on Wednesday last by the police.
The post-mortem revealed that Satyam was strangulated. Police nabbed the minor accused on Friday following a tip-off which was corroborated by the minor following his questioning, police said.
The incident came to light on Wednesday, when Malti, mother of deceased Satyam, could not spot her son playing outside. She further told other villagers who started a hunt.
The body was recovered 800 metres ahead of her house. Malti had then only raised suspicion on her neighbour.
SHO, Jagatpur, Jitendra Kumar Singh, told TOI that the accused had made a nefarious plan to invite the seven-year- old boy kill him. “The body of the victim was also dumped in a ditch to stage it a case of accident,” said the SHO.
