Lucknow: Two teenage boys from Unnao drowned while bathing in the Sai river on Wednesday, with their bodies recovered on Thursday morning near Lalloomar village in Lucknow's Mohanlalganj area.The deceased were identified as Raunak (15) and Shiva Sahu (15), both residents of Jabrela village under the Asoha police station limits in Unnao. According to a statement issued by Lucknow Police, the boys went to bathe in the river near their village on Wednesday afternoon and went missing shortly after entering the water.Their families began searching for them when they did not return home, and on Thursday morning, villagers spotted two bodies floating in the river near Lalloomar, close to the Unnao-Lucknow border. Police from the Mohanlalganj station were immediately alerted and retrieved the bodies, which were later identified based on their clothing."Preliminary investigation suggests the boys likely ventured into deeper waters and drowned. The current carried their bodies downstream to Lalloomar," said ACP Mohanlalganj Rajnish Verma.Raunak, a Class 9 student, was the only son of his parents and is survived by three sisters—two married and one unmarried. Shiva, who studied up to Class 5, lost his mother a few years ago. He was the eldest sibling and is survived by a younger brother and sister.Police have ruled out foul play and handed over the bodies to the families after post-mortem examination. Further inquiries are underway.
