Two nabbed for helping Pak spy get passport
LUCKNOW: Investigating agencies on Tuesday unveiled yet another shocking fact related to Sayyed Amir Ali: The reports of identity and address verification submitted by the police and local intelligence unit (LIU) for release of his passports were fake. The special team of investigators from Delhi rounded up two persons from Lucknow for helping Amir Ali procure a passport on forged documents.

The two were flown to Delhi where they were formally arrested.
Meanwhile, further scrutiny of documents seized from Amir's possession now suggest that he had provided his masters across the border extensive details of Delhi's civic structures like flyovers, bridges and public places of areas which will be utilised to host the forthcoming Commonwealth Games. The fact that since these specifics were not related to a particular geographical region in any one state, left the sleuths wondering about the reason for which these details were sent to Pakistan. It has now been established that all the structures were to be engaged for the Commonwealth Games.
On the other side, those arrested from Lucknow have been identified as Chand - a small time property dealer and his associate Arshad - who was a key person to provide all the fake documents that were used to procure a verified identity to Amir in Lucknow in 2005. During initial investigations, the two admitted to have received a total of Rs 16,000 from Amir for the job.
These were the two who had also helped Amir to procure a driving licence and a PAN card for Amir. Sources said that Amir had even filed his Income Tax returns from his PAN card for three financial years starting 2004-2005 to 2006-2007. In all the three years, Amir has shown his yearly income as around Rs 1 lakh.
That forged documents were submitted with the RPO to obtain the passport of Amir was revealed in the special probe headed by Lucknow District Police deputy inspector general of police (DIG) Prem Prakash. "The LIU report submitted has no record with the LIU department itself. This apart, there are a few important elements in the verification reports available at the RPO's record rooms which have some important technical elements related to report references, were either missing or wrong," Prem Prakash said.

The inquiry into the verification documents was ordered by additional director general of police (law & order) Brij Lal on Monday after it was found that his address in the passport - 172/84 Jamboor Khana, near Odean Theatre in Kaiserbagh police circle - was untraceable. When reverified, it was revealed that the house number nearest to the one mentioned in the passport (number F 33776115) was actually that of a block of six houses where none of the occupants new about Amir at all. Probing into how Amir managed to get a passport on non-existent address, it was revealed that the police and LIU reports on the basis of which the passport was issued, were forged.
Sources quoting RPO records said that Amir applied for his passport on April 24, 2005 and was delivered the document on July 2, 2005. The forged address verification report of the LIU was stated June 9, 2005.
