Two govt school teachers among three killed in Kanpur road accident
Kanpur: Three people, including two govt primary school teachers, were killed and seriously injuried when a car driver took a sharp turn and hit a speeding bus before hitting a motorcycle on GT Road highway near Naramau in Bithoor police station area on Tuesday morning.
Expressing grief over the tragic accident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath instructed the officials to provide necessary medical treatment to the victims.
Akanksha Mishra, 35, a resident of New Shivli Road in Kalyanpur, was a teacher at Niyamatpur Primary School in Safipur area of Unnao. On Tuesday morning, she was on her way to the school by car. Also accompanying her were Anjula Mishra, 41, who worked in the same school, and Richa Agnihotri, 30, a teacher at a primary school in Jamalpur area.
According to reports, all the three teachers and car driver were seriously injured in the accident. The police, upon receiving information, rushed the injured to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital. While Akanksha and Anjula died during treatment, driver Vishal Dwivedi, 27, was declared dead on arrival. Another teacher Richa is receiving treatment at a private hospital.
According to ADCP West Vijyendra Dwivedi, the accident took place when the driver attempted to take a sharp turn to refuel CNG in Naramau. The car first hit a motorcycle travelling alongside, which was being driven by Ashok Kumar, a teacher who was heading to a basic govt school in Bilhaur. Kumar was also seriously injured in the accident. In the panic, the driver lose control and veered into the wrong lane, where it was struck by a speeding private bus carrying factory workers.
The crash was so severe that the three teachers and the driver were trapped inside the car and police team had to break the window to rescue them. Meanwhile, the bus driver fled the scene.
"We are examining all aspects that led to the accident. The search for the bus driver is underway," the ADCP added.
