TTE urinates on woman in train, sacked and arrested in Lucknow

LUCKNOW: Northern Railway on Tuesday removed a train ticket examiner (TTE) from service for “urinating on the head of a woman passenger”. The accused, Munna Kumar (39), was arrested at Lucknow’s Charbagh station on Monday after an FIR was lodged by the victim’s husband.
Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw tweeted: “Zero tolerance. Removal from service with immediate effect (sic).” The incident took place on board the Amritsar-Kolkata Akal Takht Express on March 12-13 midnight. The accused, who belongs to Bihar’s Begusarai, was not on duty and was travelling to Saharanpur, where he was posted.

The victim’s husband, a deputy station superintendent in the railways, alleged the accused was drunk.
Both were travelling in coach number A1 of AC2 tier. The accused, who was caught by fellow passengers after he committed the office, has been remanded in judicial custody. He has been booked under IPC sections 352 (use of criminal force), 354A(physical contact and advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures) and 509 (insulting the modesty of a woman).
The Northern Railway, in its removal order, said the ticket checker’s conduct “construes a serious misconduct not only to your own self but entire railways as an organisation” and was “unbecoming of a railway servant”.
The spokesperson of NR’s Ambala division said the accused had been serving in the railways for nearly 15 years.
Sanjeev Kumar Sinha, circle officer of Lucknow division GRP, said during the initial questioning, Munna admitted to have committed the act. “Now we will contact the victim and her husband to take down their statements in order to ascertain the sequence of events,” he added.
