Treta Yug vibe aglow at Ayodhya railway station

The newly revamped Ayodhya Dham Junction, inspired by Lord Ram, is a modern architectural marvel set to be inaugurated. The central dome resembles Ram's 'mukut' and features a 'chakra' representing the sun. The two-storey building draws inspiration from the Janaki temple, while the Nagara style architecture is evident in the seven mandapas. The station serves as a gateway to the Ram temple, located just 1,000m away. It distinguishes itself from Ayodhya Cantt station, avoiding passenger confusion.

While the two tall 'shikhars' on the two-storey building draws inspiration from Janaki temple the seven mandapas are of Nagara style architecture.
"This newly revamped station is in true sense a gateway to Ram temple, which is just 1,000m away from here. The modern architecture has been blended with the town's heritage," said Mukesh Tripathi, a local resident who runs a confectionery store close to the railway station.
Ayodhya district has two railway stations -- Ayodhya Dham Junction located in Ayodhya City and Ayodhya Cantt (earlier Faizabad Junction) in Faizabad City.
"Earlier, many passengers used to get confused between the two stations. Now, they will know that Ayodhya Dham station means the one near the holy Ayodhya city, and not get it mixed with the station (Ayodhya Cantt) on the Faizabad city side," said railway official of Ayodhya Dham Junction.
A board that has been put up near the new structure describes the new station as an "extension building" of the existing railway station.
