Lucknow: Two young radiologists were killed after a big tree crashed on their motorcycle near Dilkusha Garden in Cantonment on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Ravi Shankar Pandey, 28, of Basti, and Bal Krishna, 27, of Mau district. Both worked as contractual radiologists at Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute and lived on the Balrampur Hospital campus.
Police said they were heading to duty on a bike around 9am when a tree suddenly collapsed, bringing down another tree with it near Dilkusha Garden. They got trapped under the debris and sustained critical injuries.
Passersby alerted the police and rushed the injured to Civil Hospital where doctors declared both brought dead.
SHO Cantonment Gurpreet Kaur said the bodies were handed over to the families after postmortem. No formal complaint has been filed so far.
The incident led to traffic disruption on the Dilkusha road as the fallen tree blocked the entire stretch.
Teams from the Cantonment Board and Forest Department later arrived, and after nearly an hour of efforts using JCB machines and cutters, the tree was removed and traffic restored.
